On Sunday we drove from Memphis to Nashville. Whenever I drive for extended periods of time my mind will usually begin to drift and start pondering some strange ideas. Here is one of my thoughts that comes up often. . .
From the time I start driving to the time I stop, I will have had thousands upon thousands of trees that are visible from my car. The question is, how many leaves, in sum, do those trees represent? Holy cow! That has got to be a freaking huge number! What always boggles my mind is that God knows exactly the number.
So, does anyone have a guess? I read somewhere that a mature, healthy tree can have about 200,000 leaves. So, let’s suppose that there are 150,000 trees within sight of my car from Memphis to Nashville, that would mean about 22.5 billion leaves (assuming 150k leaves per tree.) Is that number even anywhere close? Who knows. Maybe it’s more like 1 trillion leaves.
Anyone? Anyone?
